Handball Competition - Hungerhill School

Tuesday 28th November 2017

Congratulations to our Year 3/4 handball team who became pyramid champions at the annual inter-school competition at Hungerhill School.  They represented Barnby Dun admirably and worked well as a team to win every game.  I'm proud of you all.

Anti-Bullying Week

Monday 27th November 2017

As part of our Anti-Bullying Week activities , children and staff have been wearing odd socks or fancy tights to symbolise that we are all different.  The children will be taking part in lots of tasks and activities exploring the qualities of friendship and kindness.

Children in Need - Friday 17th November 2017

'Spotacular'

Our spotty- themed non-uniform day raised £338.38 for Children in Need!  Prizes were given for the best spotty costume.

Kingswood - Y6 Residental Visit October 2017

A group of our Year 6 children had a great time as always at Kingswood! They arrived back grubby and tired but they had a wonderful experience.

Hungerhill Pyramid Football Competition - 24.10.17

Congratulations to our year 5/6 boys football team who played in the annual Hungerhill pyramid competition and won!

They played four teams, won three games and drew one which meant Barnby Dun were the pyramid champions!  They represented our school admirably and were a pleasure to take.  Well done boys!

DONCASTER BOOK AWARDS AT THE DOME

CROSS COUNTRY - HUNGERHILL

On Tuesday 3rd October, children from Year 1 to Year 6 took part in an inter-school cross country competition at Hungerhill School.  They all finished the demanding course and achieved high results for Barnby Dun.  Overall the KS1 team came second and the KS2 team came first - an amazing result with some outstanding individual performances. 

They were a pleasure to take, behaviour was exemplary and we are proud of them all!

Summer Reading Challenge 2017

A huge well done to all of the children who participated in the Summer Reading Challenge, which involved reading six books over the summer holidays.  Their superb attitude and determination earned them a lovely certificate and a medal.  We are proud of them all!

Diabetes UK - Diabetes Awareness Week

Thank you to all parents/carers and children for their support of our Diabetes non-uniform day.

We raised a whopping £332 for the Diabetes UK Charity!

Countryside Day - Yorkshire Show Ground

EASTER RAFFLE - APRIL 2017

Our Easter raffle proved as popular as ever this year - as you can see from the photographs there were lots of eggs to win!  As always, a massive thank you to all the parents, carers and staff who donated the Easter eggs.

IKEA COMPETITION - March 2017

Niall Scholey, Sophia O'Sullivan, Ben Munro and Jayden Waite, along with Mr Harrison, made a successful bid to secure funding from Ikea for an eco-project to develop a new pond area in Barnby Woods.  A 'sizeable' prize money cheque was presented to children by Ikea staff in a special assembly.

World Book Day 2nd March 2017

The children (and staff!) had a lovely time dressing as their favourite book characters for World Book Day. They all enjoyed the bun sale, the themed school lunch and a competition to guess the teacher photographed hiding behind different books!

(February 2017)  Some of our Key Stage Two children entered a competition to design a set of superhero posters based on 'Learning Powers'.  Four designs were chosen - 'Resilient Rick', 'Independent Imogen', 'Collaborative Chloe' and 'Evaluative Eric'.  The quality of the artwork produced was outstanding and we are all thrilled with the final posters, which are now displayed in classrooms across school.

(February 2017) Our Key Stage One children have been busy investigating the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian at their Tuesday lunchtime art club with Mrs Newbury and Mrs Wilton.  They enjoyed recreating his paintings working with colour and texture and produced some fantastic results.  Each child received a very well deserved certificate!
